Obituary

Carleton E. Ullrich, 88, of Cedar Grove, N.J., passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 24, 2019. Visitation will be on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 from 4-8 p.m. at Shook’s Cedar Grove Funeral Home, 486 Pompton Ave., Cedar Grove. A Prayer Service will be offered at 7:45 p.m. Burial, with military honors, will be on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Laurel Grove Cemetery, Totowa, N.J. Kindly arrive at the funeral home after 10 a.m. for the procession to the cemetery. Memories and condolences may be shared at shookscedargrove.com.

Born in Paterson, N.J. to the late Frederick and Louise Ullrich, Carl lived in Clifton, N.J. before settling in Cedar Grove in 1966. Carl was a U.S. Army Veteran who served during the Korean War. After his military service, he attended Fairleigh Dickinson University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree. He was an accountant, and retired from Bendix/Allied-Signal, Teterboro, N.J. He was a member of the Sagabits, a senior citizens organization in Clifton. Carl was an avid baseball player and a lifelong diehard New York Yankees fan and he loved watching or talking about his New York Yankees.

Carl loved any activity his children and grandchildren were involved in and rarely missed an event – he was their biggest fan. He was a devoted family man who never said, “No.” He was always helping out his family by either getting groceries for his late mother and aunt or taking care of his brother, Harry.

Predeceased by his parents and siblings, he is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Anna Ullrich (nee: Noonan); loving daughters, Karen Rankin, and her husband, Matthew, and Kristin Barling, and her husband, Carl; and cherished grandchildren, Emily, Aidan, and Ryan.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Parkinson Foundation in memory of Carleton Ullrich at parkinson.org.
