Born in Hoboken, N.J. to Elefterios and Grace (nee: Balaban) Georgaros, he has been a longtime resident of Clifton, N.J. Thomas was an active member and past president of St. George Greek Orthodox Church and proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
After many years as co-owner of T-N-T Printing with his son, Terry, he retired in 1989 to enjoy more time with his wife, Mary. He continued to help Robert with BP Messenger Service, making deliveries and chatting with customers until the age of 89. He was thrilled to celebrate his 80th & 90th birthday with glider flights. They loved their RV time travelling cross country, camping trips with grandkids, beach vacations crabbing at the Jersey Shore, blackjack tables in Atlantic City, and winters in sunny Hallandale, Florida.
As an integral part of the St. George’s community, he was a long time Steward, past President of the Church Council, a GOYA youth advisor, pre-marriage advisory panel, and volunteered as a Greek Festival bartender, and so much more. He also volunteered as after school tutor/homework aide at the Clifton Library until age 90 – the children loved him.
Predeceased by his parents and siblings, Savvas, Chris, John, Fanny, Georgia Georgaros and Anastasia Mustakis, he is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Mary (Netelkos) Georgaros; children, Terry Georgaros (Maureen), Liz Sarris (Bill) and Helene Berrios (Robert); grandchildren, Michael Georgaros (Dan DiBenedetti), James Sarris (Angela), Linda Sarris, Robert Berrios, Jr. and Ricardo Berrios; and goddaughter, Sophia Constandinou.
